Press Release

Washington, D.C. -- Yesterday, Congressman Ron Wright (TX-06) voted YES on the Coronavirus Preparedness and Response Supplemental Appropriations Act (H.R. 6074). He made the following statement:

“I just voted YES on appropriating $8.3 billion to combat the coronavirus outbreak. This critical funding will go towards expediting vaccine development, increasing diagnostic test availability, assisting our state and local health departments, and helping impacted Americans abroad.

After the 2014 Ebola outbreak, the DFW region knows firsthand how difficult dealing with a global health crisis can be. COVID-19 is poised to have a far greater impact in the United States than Ebola. The CDC and our local municipalities must have the resources to carry out a robust response and keep our communities safe. DFW’s first responders and medical professionals are well-equipped to deal with infectious diseases, and I am confident that they will be prepared to respond to the COVID-19 in the coming weeks and months with the additional resources this funding bill provides.

I have the utmost confidence in President Trump, Vice President Pence, and their task force to lead our nation through this COVID-19 threat.”
