Wright Issues Statement on the Democrats’ Latest Appropriations Package
Washington, D.C. – Today, Congressman Ron Wright (TX-06) issued the following statement on the Democrats’ latest Appropriations Package (H.R. 7617):
“I just voted NO on the Democrats’ latest Appropriations Package.
My colleagues on the other side of the aisle continue to put their far-left agenda ahead of what’s best for the country. This appropriations package is no exception. In the midst of a global pandemic, with a soaring $26 trillion national debt, we must be smart about where the federal government spends our hard-earned taxpayer dollars.
This legislation comes with a price tag of over $1.3 trillion and is littered with poison pills. Like the appropriations package the House took up last week, this proposal recklessly spends billions of dollars on top of what the current budget agreement allows. In addition to excessive spending, this legislation puts our national security at risk, defunds our law enforcement, encourages illegal immigration across our southern border, and reverses pro-life and religious freedom protections.
This bill is full of spending our nation cannot afford and policies that are not good for Texas or the country.”
